The formwork of the base of the pellet mill was a major technical challenge due to the complex geometry of the structure and the volume of concrete required. The foundation was carried out in two phases, including a sole of more than one metre thick requiring a casting of 200 m³ of concrete.
As part of the production of the Bracemac mine, Xstrata Zinc Canada added a pellet mill to its Matagami concentrate complex to increase the processing capacity of zinc and copper ore.
Our team has been commissioned to perform all the formwork necessary to erect the massive concrete base to receive the equipment.
The structure, made in two distinct phases, had to meet stringent precision requirements to ensure alignment and stability of the mill in operating condition.
