Expansion of 42,000 sq. ft. of an active health facility in the midst of a pandemic VOCID-19. This $37 million project for the Société québécoise des infrastructures required rigorous coordination of all disciplines, while maintaining hospital operations and respecting the strict standards of health specific to the medical community.

Hardy Construction acted as general contractor for the major expansion of the Sainte-Famille Pavilion in Ville-Marie, an institutional project carried out on behalf of the SQI.

Civil and structure: Establishment of new foundations, structures and concrete slabs, including excavation, embankment, formwork and concrete construction, as well as the external infrastructure associated with the expansion.

Architecture: Complete rearrangement of interior spaces, upgrading of the building envelope, installation of doors and windows, insulation, sealing and interior finishes.

Mechanical and plumbing: Upgrade and extension of plumbing networks, HVAC, medical gases and fire protection. High performance equipment in accordance with parasimistic standards and strict hospital requirements.

Electricity and safety: Upgrade of power supplies, lighting, emergency systems, telecommunications and safety systems. Full commissioning including functional facility verification and training of operating personnel.

Complete connection of the expansion to municipal infrastructure, including water, sewer and storm systems.

In accordance with the requirements for health facilities, a redundant drinking water supply has been put in place, accompanied by a supervised inlet of water ensuring continuous control of the supply. The work also included excavation, pipe installation and connection to existing networks, all of which was done by maintaining essential services at the operating hospital.
