In Pikogan, an Anishinabe community of the Abitibiwinni First Nation near Amos, Hardy Construction was awarded the contract to build the new police station following a public call for bids, having submitted the lowest bid. The company’s civil division carried out all the infrastructure work to prepare the site: clearing, excavation involving rock drilling and blasting, installation of the granular foundation, road drainage, laying of pipes and an electrical trench, concrete footings, curbs and sidewalks, paving, fencing, and landscaping. The civil engineering contract, valued at approximately 740,000, is part of an overall construction project.
