The greatest challenge of the project is probably the management involved in the decontamination of water and soil. With Hardy Construction's expertise in civil engineering, the process was carried out in accordance with the criteria and requirements of the Ministry of the Environment, from excavation to storage and transportation to the treatment site.

The first step in this civil engineering project was to pave the Hydro Road and Veillette Road, totalling 6.5 km, to serve as a detour for citizens. This resulted in the excavation and transportation of 40,000 tonnes of contaminated soil to a treatment site. The sanitary and storm sewer system was extended by 300 metres and the water pipes replaced. A light embankment of 4,100 m³ was installed, surrounded by a 40 m² geomembrane of 9,000 m² serving as a barrier against contaminants.

Throughout the work, the treatment of contaminated water and the management of a detour with 10,000 vehicles per day were ensured.
